Explore
Jasper
This
adventure is an overnight introduction to backcountry
camping in the Canadian Rockies. Our experienced
guides will show you the fundamentals of backcountry
travel on this moderate 13 km trail. Hiking up a
narrow mountain valley you will pass meadows, glacial
lakes, and abundant wildlife. The destination is
Jacques Lake where a beautifully situated lakeside
campground offers great views to the surrounding
peaks. A hearty dinner around a campfire to finish
off a great day in Rockies. The following day retraces
your steps and can be combined with a couple hours
of fishing in one of the pristine lakes.

Jasper
Skyline
Trail
Rated North Americas Best Weekend Backpacking trail - Backpacker Magazine
Following along the
wide ridges of the Maligne Range, the skyline is
one of the most beautiful backpacks in North America.
This trail stretches 44km, with 25km of the trail
at or above treeline. As you hike through the flora
rich alpine valleys you’ll also enjoy the
stunning landscape views of Jasper National Park.
The first day takes you from the lake up a gentle
grade through an spruce and fir forest, at Evelyn
Creek the trail starts to switchback up towards
Little Shovel Pass. The views continue to improve
as we go up and over the crest of Little Shovel
pass with magnificent views of the peaks surrounding
Maligne Lake. After a break to enjoy the scenery
the trail descends to our campsite in the alpine
meadow known as Snowbowl. We enjoy our first night
out after traveling about 13kms.
When we arise the second day we set out on our most
scenic day of the trip. We head up and over big
shovel pass, and enjoy a truly alpine feel as we
round the bowl and up and over the notch. At the
2510m pass known as the notch, a much needed break
is taken as we enjoy the majestic views over the
Athabasca Valley. On a clear day you can see Mt.
Robson, over 120km away! Following along the Maligne
ridge we descend to the spectacular campground just
below Tekarra mountain. After this long day a hearty
meal is prepared as we rest our weary feet beside
the river.
Our last day is an easy morning lounging in camp
and packing our things. The hike out is roughly
14 km but is mainly downhill. As we descend wildlife
becomes more abundant as we head into the montane
forest and finish at the trailhead near Maligne
Canyon.

Tonquin
Valley
The
Tonquin Valley is a personal favorite of all our
guides. This is a 4 day 3 night loop trail covering
about 42 km. Starting at the Astoria river trailhead
near Mt. Edith Cavell we travel a long but quite
easy trail to the Surprise point Campground on the
end of Amethyst Lakes. This is our home for two
nights as we explore some of Jaspers hidden wonders
without our heavy backpacks. Fishing is also an
option as Amethyst Lakes are abundant with Rainbow
and Brook Trout. On our third day we will travel
a short distance across the Valley to the Maccarib
Campground with spectacular views of the Ramparts’
ten peaks dominating the skyline. Our last day takes
us up over Maccarib Pass through flower filled alpine
meadows with chances to spot Caribou and other wildlife
on our way home.

The
Grand Tour Of Jasper
This
trip is for people with some previous backcountry
experience who wish to explore further in the depths
of Jasper National Park. This is our most extensive
trip lasting five days 4 nights. Covering roughly
15km per day this trip is by no means out of reach
for anyone looking for a longer adventure.
The grand tour of Jasper encompasses several hidden
wonders of the Rockies. Traveling through all types
of terrain, from montane forest to alpine meadow
and a visit to one of Jasper’s largest backcountry
lakes. Starting at Poboktan Creek and heading for
the pass we travel through a montane forest on our
way to Waterfalls Campground, aptly named for the
roaring waterfall setting. Onward toward the Brazeau
Valley, two days travel takes us high into the alpine,
through a ravine, then finishing with a relaxing
day around the shore of beautiful Brazeau Lake.
Several options are available for this half-day
including fishing, day hiking or just lounging in
camp. Our final days are spent following the Brazeau
River along a pleasant valley, then spectacular
views finishing over Nigel pass.
